Frequently Asked Questions:

The best time to schedule your newborn session is BEFORE your baby is born. Contacting me during your 2nd or 3rd trimester is best to ensure a spot on my calendar. We will tentatively schedule your session about 2 weeks out from your due date. We can adjust accordingly once the baby is born if needed (ie: baby comes early or late).

Newborn sessions should be scheduled to take place within the first 20 days of life. This is the best time to get those snuggly, sleepy, curled-up newborn poses we all love! After about 3 weeks it becomes a bit more difficult to get the baby into a deep sleep and less likely to get them in those typical newborn poses, although I have done it, so don’t stress if this is the case. I promise we will still get lots of beautiful images that you will cherish.

The session will take place in my newborn studio in High Point. The studio will be warm, calm, and dim for your little one, so they are comfortable between the changing of wraps/outfits (others attending the session should keep that in mind when dressing as well). I’ll also have a sound machine on in able to keep baby relaxed. There is a space for parents to relax during the session. There is also complimentary drinks and snacks available.

Patience is a virtue... newborn sessions take about 2 hours and this is because babies take time to pose. If baby is fussy and having a difficult time getting settled, there is no need to stress. I only schedule one newborn a day so that we don’t need to rush or stress if it takes a little longer than usual to get the baby settled. I’m very patient and am used to the time it can take to get a baby posed, It's not uncommon for it to take 20 minutes to get a baby settled into a pose... but trust me, it’s always worth it!
Following the prep instructions given to your prior to the session can help to ensure a shorter, smoother session!

Instructions on how to best prepare baby will be emailed to you once baby has arrived and we confirm our session date. The main things are going to be making sure baby is sleepy and fully fed.
-
Everything is provided for the shoot. The studio has all the props, outfits, hats, headbands, wraps, buckets, bowls, and baskets needed.
Based on the nursery and/or the parent’s personal style, I will have “looks” prepared for the session.
If there is a specific prop, outfit, or blanket you’d like to add to the session that is fine, just let me know ahead of time what you are bringing.
-
The only thing you need to bring is diapers, wipes, a burp cloth, a pacifier, and bottles (if baby is taking one).
-
Yes! If siblings are coming to get photographed with the baby, it’s best to have someone bring them towards the end of the session.
Newborn sessions are long and kids tend to get antsy which can sometimes disrupt the baby.
-
If you are being photographed with baby (which I highly recommend you do), It’s best to wear solid, neutral colors. This applies to siblings as well! I usually suggest staying away from too many patterns, but ultimately it’s up to you!
Parent photos are usually only from the waist up.
